Bellingham to Cache Creek BC

Well today was our first real day of the drive. We left bham at about 11:30 after sleeping in a little and have some breakfast with Kevin and co. Our route took us through a bunch of really smelly town to the lovely border town of Sumas Wa. After a short wait at the boarder and a couple of standard questions we were through and officially in Canada. It was a pretty easy drive that was pretty similar to driving to east of the mountains. starting with some mountain passes then down through some pretty bare valleys, following the Fraser river most of the way. We stopped at a closed park to make some sandwiches for lunch and for a short hike to a derelict bridge from the 20's. It was pretty cool, but also pretty scary.(very rusty and about 100 feet above the river).
We pulled into Cache Creek at about 5:30 and did a quick drive through to scope out some of the lodging options. We turned back around in into what we determined would be the best place to start...The Castle Inn Motel...this place was amazing, for all the wrong reasons. First of all, the proprietor was 108 years old. He was very excited to let us know that he had a room available that usually goes for $70 a night but he let us have it for $50(seems pricey, but in our research seems reasonable for these middle of no where towns). As he led us led us to the room at a break neck speed of .3 mph he informed us that there was no way we would find a better deal in town. He seemed confused, because the high lights of the room(it was a double suite so it actually had two bedrooms, a kitchen and living room area) meant nothing to us as we were just looking for a bed and a shower really. After running into our potential 'neighbor' (20 something redneck looking kid with 3 visible teeth and cigarette Cologne) we decided we should keep looking. We didn't have to look very far. The place across the street( The Sundowner Motel) was much nicer, the same price, and after a quick check to make sure we would watch the game, we booked it.

We have a really long day ahead of us tomorrow so were just relaxing for the rest of the night.
